Government Rajeev Gandhi Post Graduate College, Mandsaur was established as an under-graduate college in the year 1955. Seven years later in 1962, it was recognized as a post graduate college as well. The college is affiliated to Vikram University, Ujjain and was granted recognition under the guidelines 2 (f) and 12 (B) of UGC act. The college is the biggest amongst all the colleges under Vikram University jurisdiction. Alongwith Art, Science and Commerce there are 17 post graduate courses in the college. 14 self-finance courses are being well-managed and conducted. The college is also recognized as a research centre for commerce, economics, geography, history, hindi, political science, zoology, geology and mathematics. In the academic session 2017-18, the student number rose to 9310. The college is spread in a total area of 24 acres facilitated with spacious play ground, gym and in accordance with the strength of students, adequate infrastructural facilities are available. The building consists of 60 plus class-rooms and a capacious library with more than one lac books, manuscripts encyclopedias and journals.
To provide dynamism to teaching-learning process, the college has 68 regular & temporary teachers. Among these , 40 teachers have been awarded Ph.D. degree. The annual budget of the college is more than six crores rupees as well as an amount of rupees 14921300.00 is collected from college Janbhagidari Samiti per annum. This amount is utilized for development and enhancing facilities in the college premises. As far as the Indian values and evaluation is concerned, the college strongly believes in sacred and oldest scripture Rigveda sloka vk uks Hknzk% d`roks ;Urq fo'or% which means that innovative ideas should be welcomed from all directions. The staff of the college strongly advocates that the only thread to connect individuals and gestalt is education. They also postulate in the fact that education is the mother of society and is the sole factor that decides kind of society procurable to the nation. The college family's moral fiber is intact in concern of Indian values and ethics. The desideratum of the college is to provide novel ideas of education to the students. The parity between the development of IQ, EQ and SQ is the cardinal need of the contemporary society and the college assures no ambiguity in it.
